Brit Ponset, a drifter on horseback, stops at a remote ranch for directions and water. He meets Hannah Gilford, the wife of General Gilford, who insists her husband is still alive despite the fact that he and his cavalry regiment were wiped out five years ago. The townspeople believe Hannah has lost her mind and refuses to accept her husband's death, but Ponset begins to wonder what really happened to the general.
A remote ranch in a dry region of the state, and the nearby town where supplies are obtained.
Characters: Brit Ponset, Hannah Gilford, Mr. Trailer, General Gilford
Listen for: The mystery of General Gilford's fate and whether Hannah Gilford truly believes he is alive or knows something others don't.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
