What happens

Sam Spade is reluctant to partner with Fritz Crockett, an overeager young detective from Chicago, but agrees to help guard a valuable Josephine crown at a society masquerade party on Nob Hill. Both men are forced to wear rabbit costumes to the event, but during the evening someone steals the crown from the locked safe, and the investigation leads Sam to a beautiful French girl named Charmain Roje who has her own designs on the jewel.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
