What happens
Phil Harris and his wife Alice Faye are the central characters in this episode of The Phil Harris Alice Faye Show, which aired on NBC on October 12, 1952. Phil's guitarist Elliot Lewis complains that his mail has gone missing and that neighbors are receiving none either. Phil grows suspicious of Alice, who appears to be taking letters from neighborhood mailboxes, and he confronts her about it. The story turns on a plan to return the mail without anyone seeing, and the situation grows more tangled as a grocery boy becomes involved.
A suburban neighborhood and the Harris home, with scenes at Bill's band rehearsal and a nearby bar.
Characters: Phil Harris, Alice Faye, Elliot Lewis, Curly, Julius, Phyllis, Willie
Listen for: Phil's growing suspicion of Alice as he watches her collecting neighborhood mail, and the attempts to get the letters back into the right boxes.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
