What happens

Phil Harris and Alice Faye's radio show, a 1951 episode from The Phil Harris series first broadcast on NBC on April 1, 1951. Phil Harris, Frankie Remley and Alice Faye visit RCA Victor's vice president, Mr. McDevitt, after the company stops asking Phil to make new records. McDevitt says Phil's last record sold poorly and that the company cannot find a song for him. Phil and Frankie decide to write a song themselves, but their early attempts go badly, and their efforts draw amused reactions from friends and neighbors.

Characters: Phil Harris, Alice Faye, Frankie Remley, Curly, Mr. McDevitt, Julius, Grogan

Listen for: Phil and Frankie's attempts to write a song, and the bickering over who has the better musical ability

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
