What happens

Phil Harris and Alice Faye are a married couple whose young daughter Phyllis asks how they first met. Phil tells the story in two parts. In the first, Alice, a movie star, visits the Coconut Grove nightclub after finishing a picture, and meets the new band leader Phil Harris, a curly-haired drummer. Harris charms her and she agrees to a date. Alice's Uncle Willie objects to the match, and Alice herself is initially reluctant. The episode is part of The Phil Harris radio series, first broadcast on NBC on October 30, 1953, starring Phil Harris, Alice Faye, Elliott Lewis and Gale Gordon.

A suburban home, and flashbacks to the Coconut Grove nightclub and Harris's house.

Listen for: Phil Harris recounting how he and Alice Faye first met at the Coconut Grove.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
