What happens

Phil Harris, unhappy that film producer Darryl Zanuck will only cast him in small comic parts, decides to prove his dramatic talent. He orders his band and writers to rehearse a serious program, but the writers refuse to cooperate and Phil and Curly attempt to write the script themselves. The result is a parody of All About Eve, with Phil and Frankie Remley playing the leads in a melodrama about an aging stage star and an ambitious young understudy. The Phil Harris-Alice Faye series aired on NBC, and this March 11, 1951 episode stars Phil Harris and Alice Faye, with Elliott Lewis and Gale Gordon also in the cast.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
