What happens
Phil Harris waits at home for a phone call from Darryl Zanuck, the head of 20th Century Fox, who had promised more film work if his performance in Wabash Avenue pleased him. Alice Faye, his wife, grows impatient with his vigil, and the two go to the studio to confront Zanuck. Zanuck is unimpressed, dismisses Harris as a comedian, and suggests changes to his features. Back home, Harris considers his options, consulting friends and experimenting with makeup and appearance. The episode is part of The Phil Harris Alice Faye Show, which aired on NBC on March 4, 1951, starring Phil Harris and Alice Faye.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
