What happens

Phil Harris is roped into helping his household with spring cleaning while Alice assigns chores to the family. Neighbor Mrs. Stewart comes searching for her dog Cuddles, mistakes Phil under the house for it, and creates a comic mix-up. Phil's children, Alice and Phyllis, want to win a live puppy in the Little Nipper contest and ask their father to write their entry letter. Phil, Frankie and Curly then try to get round the contest rules, and the episode is a farce built around Phil's scheming. This is the Phil Harris series, with Phil Harris and Alice Faye in the lead roles, and Elliott Lewis appearing as a cast member, first broadcast on NBC on May 4, 1952.

The Harris household and its neighborhood, with the house, its yard and the area under the house, a nearby mailbox on the corner, and the RCA Victor contest offices.

Characters: Phil Harris, Alice Faye, Frankie, Curly, Julius, Mrs. Stewart, Alice, Phyllis

Listen for: Phil's attempt to write the children's contest letter and the rules that disqualify them, and the comic episode with the mailbox.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
