What happens

Phil Harris is ordered by his sponsor, Mr. Scott, to dismiss his band, a demand that Mr. Scott delivers at a board meeting of RCA Victor's directors. Phil must tell the musicians, including the loyal Frankie Remley, that they are being let go after sixteen years together. The band has just learned of the decision and is preparing a presentation for their leader, a gift that turns out to be an odd and unreliable watch. Phil and Alice Faye are left worrying about how the show can go on without an orchestra. This is a 1952 episode of The Phil Harris radio series, first broadcast on NBC on April 27, 1952, with Phil Harris and Alice Faye in the leads.

The RCA Victor sponsor offices and the radio studio where the band rehearses.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
