What happens

Phil Harris learns from his brother-in-law William that he owes a large income tax bill, and that his extravagant payments to his band are the cause. Alice Faye urges him to cut the musicians' salaries, but Phil dreads telling them. His old friend Frankie Remley, who is always broke, expects to be treated as one of the boys. Phil plans to ask Frankie first, hoping he will accept a cut without complaint. The episode is from The Phil Harris-Alice Faye Show, first broadcast on NBC on January 7, 1951, starring Phil Harris and Alice Faye.

Hollywood, California, at the Harris household and among the members of Phil Harris's band.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
