What happens
Phil Harris and Alice Faye face the new year after a rowdy musicians' party. Phil's friend Willy and the others tease him about his habits, and fan letter from an admirer named Sweeney leads Phil to visit the man at his home. Sweeney praises Phil's voice and suggests he should be a concert singer rather than a comic personality. Phil decides to pursue a concert career, and Alice arranges for a voice coach, Mr. Crown, to come hear him. The Phil Harris-Alice Faye show is a radio comedy series on NBC, with Elliott Lewis and Gale Gordon in the supporting cast. This episode aired on January 1, 1950.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
