What happens

Phil Harris and his wife Alice are asked by their neighbor Mr. Scott to look after his valuable French poodle, Madame Bovary, while he and his wife take a motor trip. Harris misunderstands a joke about a dog house at first, and a mix-up with a supersonic dog whistle leaves Frankie Remley wondering whether he can hear like a dog. Meanwhile, Remley and Curly try to take care of the poodle, with messy results. The episode is from The Phil Harris-Alice Faye Show, first broadcast on NBC on January 8, 1950, and stars Phil Harris and Alice Faye, with Elliott Lewis and Gale Gordon also featured.

Characters: Phil Harris, Alice Faye, Mr. Scott, Mrs. Scott, Frankie Remley, Curly, Julius, Madame Bovary

Listen for: Harris's reaction to Scott's dog whistle, and Remley's attempts to clean and fix up the poodle.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
