What happens
Phil Harris plans a birthday outing for his fourteen-year-old daughter, Little Alice, while his wife Alice waits at home. Elliott Lewis, Phil's friend, pitches him a scheme involving an old treasure map that marks a barrel of uranium lost off the Solomon Islands. Phil and Elliott, sometimes called Curly, soon find themselves at a department store, drawn to deep-sea diving equipment rather than gifts for Little Alice. The program is part of The Phil Harris series, broadcast on NBC on November 20, 1953, with Phil Harris, Alice Faye, Elliott Lewis and Gale Gordon in the cast.
Harris household and a department store, with the uranium scheme's Solomon Islands setting imagined by the characters.
Characters: Phil Harris, Alice, Little Alice, Elliott, Curly, Julius
Listen for: Phil and Elliott's shopping at the department store and their attempts to test diving helmets.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
