What happens
Phil Harris and Alice Faye play a couple who must choose Christmas gifts after the board of the F.W. Fitch Company decides to send presents to its stockholders. Phil's friend Frankie and his neighbor Curly join the shopping trip, and a series of mix-ups begins as the gifts are bought, wrapped and mailed. The Phil Harris radio series aired on NBC on December 15, 1946, with Phil Harris and Alice Faye starring alongside Elliott Lewis and Gale Gordon. The story is told in a light comic style, with the couple's household and the shopping errands forming most of the action.
The F.W. Fitch Company offices in Des Moines, Iowa, and the Harris home, followed by a department store shopping trip in the city.
Characters: Phil Harris, Alice Faye, Frankie, Curly, F.W. Fitch, J.R.
Listen for: The mix-up over the packages and the gifts, and Frankie's and Curly's shopping trip.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
