What happens

Phil Harris and Alice Faye return home to Hollywood from a weekend at Lake Arrowhead and find an invitation to a musical given by Emily Williams. Phil is reluctant, fearing he will not fit in among the society guests, while Alice looks forward to a charming evening. Their household staff, Sissy and Luigi, react to the news, and Phil bumps into his bandmate Frankie Remley and Curly in town. The couple then dress for the party and arrive at the Williams home, where the guests are announced and Phil's clothing draws attention. This is the Phil Harris series, broadcast on NBC on December 8, 1946.

Listen for: Phil's clumsy arrival at the Williams party and his comments about the guests and the butler

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
