What happens
Phil Harris is suffering from frayed nerves and cannot relax at home. His wife Alice Faye and the household staff try to help, from the bustle of daughters Phyllis and Julius to Curly and Elliot Lewis dropping by. Phil's attempts at quiet time keep getting interrupted by noise, the vacuum, and the television. Phil plans an old-fashioned evening at home with games, popcorn balls and cider, but the household's plans keep going awry. The Phil Harris series aired on NBC on February 12, 1954, with Phil Harris and Alice Faye as the leads, and Elliott Lewis and Gale Gordon also feature.
The Harris home
Characters: Phil Harris, Alice Faye, Elliott Lewis, Gale Gordon, Phyllis, Julius, Curly
Listen for: Phil's frustration with his jumpy nerves and his plan for a quiet, old-fashioned evening at home
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
