What happens

Our Miss Brooks, an English teacher at Madison High School, is secretly the target of a scheme by her students and colleagues. Connie Brooks, a teacher at Madison High, is fond of her pupils and of biology teacher Philip Boynton, though he is shy around her. Walter Denton, Harriet Conklin and others plan a surprise birthday party. To keep Connie from buying the green alligator bag she wants, they each borrow money from her, sometimes with invented hard-luck stories. The scheme leads to a series of loans and misunderstandings during the school day. This program is from the Our Miss Brooks series, first broadcast on CBS Radio on October 24, 1948, starring Eve Arden.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
