What happens

Miss Brooks, a high school English teacher, is recruited by principal Osgoode Conklin to help raise money for children's playgrounds through a charity auction at Madison High School. Conklin puts her in charge of gathering donations and then of running the auction itself. Her efforts involve bargain-hunting with Mr. Boynton, Harriet Conklin's handbill campaign, and help from the wayward student Stretch Snodgrass. Conklin, his daughter Harriet, and the school staff are all drawn into the day's bidding and confusion. Eve Arden stars, with Gale Gordon as Conklin, in this episode of Our Miss Brooks, a CBS Radio comedy series first broadcast on February 5, 1956.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
