What happens
Nick Carter investigates a murder-blackmail scheme after Harvey Craig, a state senate candidate, is forced to pay $50,000 to two men who claim he hit and killed a pedestrian. The dead man had an insurance policy naming Harvey as beneficiary. Nick suspects this is part of a larger racket targeting wealthy citizens, and he and Patsy go undercover as servants in the home of a suspicious man named Bentley to get closer to the truth.
A major city with waterfront slums; Harvey Craig's campaign headquarters; Mr. Bentley's mansion with valuable artwork and antiques.
Characters: Nick Carter, Patsy, Harvey Craig, Julia Prentice, Joe, Tom, Frank Hudson, Mr. Bentley
Listen for: Nick and Patsy's undercover investigation deepens as they pose as domestic servants in Bentley's household, where the suspected blackmailers Joe and Tom also work.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
