Nick Carter is hired by Paul Sanders, a man who accidentally collides with him while driving, claiming that William Lasher will be murdered that night and that he himself has the strongest motive for killing him. Nick agrees to take the case for $10,000 and works with Sergeant Matheson to establish Lasher's whereabouts and safety. Despite their precautions and police surveillance, Lasher is found dead in his study, poisoned from a drink offered by an unknown visitor.
New York City, including a theatre, Lasher's home, and police headquarters.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
