What happens

Detective Nick Carter reluctantly takes a case to protect politician Milton Nigel at a political rally in Springville, suspecting gangster involvement. When Carter visits Nigel's hotel suite, he discovers a dead woman—a dancer from the carnival—weighted down in the bathtub. Both Nigel and his wife had opportunity and motive, and Carter must uncover who killed the mysterious girl and why her body ended up in the politician's bathroom.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
