What happens

Nero Wolfe, a large and sedentary private detective, is visited in his New York office by a man who offers a thousand dollars to drop a client named Dorothy Spencer. Archie Goodwin, Wolfe's assistant, is suspicious when the visitor claims to be a pianist but seems ignorant of music, and Wolfe begins to doubt the man's story. The New Adventures of Nero Wolfe aired on October 27, 1950, starring Sydney Greenstreet as Wolfe. Soon the visitor turns up dead, and the police come looking for Miss Spencer, drawing Wolfe and Archie into a murder investigation.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
