What happens
New District Attorney Thomas E. Dewey, a man who vows to expose the racketeers preying on the city, is approached by Mrs. Milano, an Italian immigrant whose three sons run a wholesale food business. She explains that her sons were pressured by a man demanding $100 a month for protection, and that their warehouses were overturned and burned when they refused. Dewey promises to help her, but the next morning he learns that the three Milano brothers have been murdered in a restaurant. Dewey investigates the crime, and a threatening note found near one of the bodies suggests the killing is tied to the rackets he has sworn to break.
A city in America in the late 1930s, where a newly elected district attorney's office faces organized racketeering in the food and cleaning trades.
Characters: Mr. District Attorney, Miss Rand, Mrs. Milano, Chief Thomas, Harrington, Wallace, Zara, Miss Phillips

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
