What happens

The Man Called X, starring Herbert Marshall, follows an international troubleshooter known as Mr. X and his assistant Pagon. In a Paris theatre, Mr. X kisses a stranger, Leonor Barrell, who is wearing a striking lavalier. Later in Paris he meets her again, and the two grow close. Mr. X is drawn into a tangle of jewels linked to the Rotterdam collection, which vanished during the war, while his suspicions about Leonor's fiancé begin to take shape. This recording was broadcast on July 23, 1946.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
