What happens
Ken Thurston, the special investigator known as Mr. X, looks into a shipment of uncut industrial diamonds that were confiscated in Holland and are being smuggled toward the Reich through Buenos Aires, Argentina. After a tense encounter in a Manhattan Turkish bath, where he is nearly suffocated by unknown men, Thurston teams up with the freelance spy Zegon, who agrees to help for a fee. Their search leads them to a hotel in Buenos Aires and to a young woman who has grown close to a man she believes is Mr. X. The episode is part of the series The Man Called X, first broadcast on November 25, 1944, and stars Herbert Marshall.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
