What happens
Ken Thurston, the man called X, is drawn into a mystery in Tokyo after a student named Suduki attacks Mr. White, a high-ranking official, at the Daiichi building. Thurston traces the forged pass that let Suduki through, and questions Professor Hawkins and a secretary named Natasha Corolla, while a Russian news correspondent named Nikolai Kachenko keeps appearing in his path. Lead actor Herbert Marshall plays Thurston in this episode of The Man Called X, first broadcast on NBC on January 20, 1951, as part of a Saturday night program. Thurston follows leads from the university to Suduki's room and an old airplane factory on Osumi island, where the trail leads toward a dangerous plot.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
