What happens
After a devastating flood in Italy, American relief supplies keep disappearing in the village of Chiori, and anti-American feeling is spreading. Ken Thurston, a secret agent known as the Man Called X, arrives to investigate, joined by the relief administrator's former employee, Desmond. Thurston meets Teresa Arienza, who now runs the relief station, and learns that the village's new mayor, Tolini, is stirring up hostility. Pagon Zellschmidt, a man held in jail, claims he was an innocent bystander. The series, the Man Called X, aired on NBC on February 12, 1952, with Herbert Marshall in the title role. Thurston pieces together what is happening to the supplies while the village grows more dangerous for Americans.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
