What happens

Ken Thurston, an agent working for Radio Freedom, travels to Zermatt to track down an illegal radio station broadcasting false information to listeners behind the Iron Curtain. The station's signal seems to come from the Matterhorn, a peak where no station is known to exist. Thurston meets several climbers, including Professor Hartley and Mr. Reader, and he suspects some of them may be connected to the broadcasts. Denise Stepanek, a Radio Freedom staffer, also arrives in town with warnings about stolen information. Pagan Eschmidt assists Thurston, and the group works against a deadline to find the transmitter before its next broadcast. The episode is part of The Man Called X, a radio series starring Herbert Marshall. It originally aired on January 15, 1952.

Luxembourg and Zermatt, at the foot of the Matterhorn in the Swiss Alps

Characters: Ken Thurston, Pagan Eschmidt, Denise Stepanek, Professor Hartley, Mr. Reader, Chief

Listen for: The directional antenna signal pointing toward the Matterhorn, and the shots fired during the climb that trigger an avalanche

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
