What happens

Paul Dech, known as Mr. X, arrives in Papeete, Tahiti, to investigate a fatal explosion at a phosphate mine that killed Robert Sullivan, a guest he had come to see. Dech is approached by a woman who seems to know more than she first admits, and Sullivan's associates, including the mine's owner Professor Powers, become the focus of his questions. Dech suspects the blast was no accident and sets out to learn who was behind it. The story is set against a wider concern about the world's need for phosphate to ease food shortages. This guide stops short of the resolution.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
