What happens

Ken Thurston arrives in a small village on the Amazon River in Brazil to look into the murder of Dr. Maddox, a physician working with the Institute of Inter-American Affairs. Thurston joins Dr. Northrop at the clinic, where the nurse Maria Costello and the plantation manager Villas are also present. Tensions rise among the native rubber workers after a vaccination goes wrong and a child dies. Thurston suspects the trouble is being deliberately stirred up, and he begins to question the people around him. The Man Called X is a radio adventure series, and this episode aired on June 15, 1951, starring Herbert Marshall.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
