What happens

Lum and Abner, the proprietors of the Jot 'Em Down Store in Pine Ridge, hear from the town that Dow Jones Smith has left $10,000 to be spent for the good of the community. Everyone in Pine Ridge has a suggestion, and Mousy Gray comes to Lum with a plan to provide every family in town with a brand-new apartment. Lum listens to the plan as Mousy works through a chart of apartment houses and house sales. Lum and Abner is a long-running radio comedy, first aired on April 17, 1942, on NBC, Mutual, CBS and ABC, and the leading roles are played by Chester Lauck, Norris Goff and Lurene Tuttle.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
