What happens

Lum and Abner's Pine Ridge neighbors are delighted with Mousey Gray's plan for the ten thousand dollar gift from Dowdy Smith, which promises apartment buildings for every family in town. Lum and Abner tout the scheme to Grandpap, who signs over his farm on the back of an old grocery bill, and they discuss partnering with Mousey. Lum and Abner work through the plan's arithmetic and begin to worry about the neighbors they will have in the new buildings, while Grandpap keeps calling the office with questions. The episode is a Lum and Abner radio comedy from April 20, 1942, aired on NBC, Mutual, CBS and ABC, with Chester Lauck, Norris Goff and Lurene Tuttle in the leading roles.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
