What happens
Lum and Abner, the proprietors of the Jot-Em-Down Store in Pine Ridge, deal with the $10,000 gift left to their town and the many suggestions for spending it. Grandpa reads aloud from a book of ideas, and Abner and Lum argue over his choices, including a polo field and an alligator farm. Quincy keeps calling, insisting that the money go toward a toll bridge, while townsfolk spread their own selfish schemes around. The story is told through telephone calls and quarrels in the store, with the series' lead actors Chester Lauck and Norris Goff playing the title pair and Lurene Tuttle appearing in the cast. The episode first aired on NBC, Mutual, CBS and ABC on April 16, 1942.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
