What happens
Lum and Abner live in Pine Ridge, where the women have locked their husbands out of their houses in protest against the men's protective association. The two groups hold a joint meeting to try to reach a compromise. Lum Edwards and Cedric Foster discuss the matter, and Abner returns from the meeting with news that the men have agreed to organize a women's protective association of their own. Later, Lum learns that the women have voted to ask city officials to resign and replace them with women, and he vows to fight the change alone. The broadcast is a comedy of small-town life, and the series is presented for Postum by NBC, Mutual, CBS and ABC, with Chester Lauck, Norris Goff and Lurene Tuttle in the leading roles. The episode first aired on 1940-02-21.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
