What happens
Lum and Abner, the series set in the Arkansas hill town of Pine Ridge, follows the local men as their wives' Women's Protective Association keeps them from home. The episode aired on 1940-02-19 on NBC, Mutual, CBS and ABC, with Chester Lauck, Norris Goff and Lurene Tuttle in the leading roles. Lum and Abner are at the Jot 'Em Down Store discussing the wives' campaign, which has locked the men out of their houses. Abner complains about sleeping in tourist camps and worries about the threat to hold feet to the fire, while Grandpap Mastick hears the rumours and pushes him to quit the men's association and go home. The men's position grows more uncertain as the talk turns to the women's tactics.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
