What happens
Lum and Abner, the residents of Pine Ridge, face an upheaval when the town's women form their own protective association and demand that the male officials resign so women can run local affairs. Squire Skimp of the Dot-Em-Down Store talks with Lum about the new women's ticket, and the two men weigh their chances against the women's candidates. Abner reveals he has resigned as mayor and wants to run again, and the men search for a candidate who might beat the women. The story follows their scheming as the election draws near. The episode was first broadcast on February 23, 1940, on the NBC, Mutual, CBS and ABC networks, with Chester Lauck, Norris Goff and Lurene Tuttle in the lead roles.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
