What happens

Lum and Abner, the two hill-country characters of the Lum and Abner radio series, find Pine Ridge in an election fight between the men and the women of the town. The Women's Protective Association has pushed the village officers out and runs its own ticket, and Lum and Abner are drawn in as the men's candidates. Lum is seeking re-election as mayor against the women, and Abner, who is also on the men's ticket, finds that his opponent for Chief of Police is his wife, Elizabeth. Gathered at the Jump-A-Down store, the men struggle to find a campaign platform that will appeal to voters. The original air date is February 26, 1940, and the series is broadcast by NBC, Mutual, CBS and ABC, with Chester Lauck, Norris Goff and Lurene Tuttle in the lead roles.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
