What happens

Lum and Abner is a radio comedy about two residents of the small community of Pine Ridge. Lum has answered a newspaper advertisement placed by Florence Beaumont, a wealthy widow from Nashville, and the two men anxiously await her arrival in town. Abner fusses over his appearance, dyeing his hair and wrestling with an uncomfortable collar, while both men imagine what married life with her might be like. The episode is broadcast in 1940 on NBC, Mutual, CBS and ABC, with Chester Lauck, Norris Goff and Lurene Tuttle among the cast. The episode closes as Florence finally arrives in town.

Listen for: Abner's unhappy struggle with his stiff collar and the men's daydreams about Florence's arrival

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
