What happens
Lum Edwards is newly appointed air raid warden in Pine Ridge, and he and Abner Peabody discuss the duties with the town's wartime enthusiasm. Lum is also acting as circulation manager for Dogbury's pamphlets, and a package of them is sitting on the store counter, to be carried to the county seat. Squire Skimp arrives to donate scrap metal and newspapers to the victory boxes, and mentions a report of an apparently harmless man caught with explosives in a depot. Abner and Lum then become suspicious of the package on the counter, and a ticking sound prompts a frantic search and a tense moment in the store.
