What happens

Lum and Abner, the proprietors of the newly opened bank in Pine Ridge, turn down Squire Skimp's request for a loan, explaining that most of the bank's deposits belong to them. Their business is quiet but growing, and the townsfolk now treat them with new respect. A stranger arrives at the bank asking to leave a sealed box in the safe deposit vault, claiming to be a cousin of a local man. He gives a receipt, pays a fee, and warns that the box must be released only to whoever presents that receipt. This episode of the Lum and Abner radio series, broadcast in 1941 on NBC, Mutual, CBS and ABC, stars Chester Lauck, Norris Goff and Lurene Tuttle.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
