What happens
Lum Edwards and Abner Peabody run a store and bakery in Pine Ridge, and Lum has become a boxing manager again for Mousey, who is to fight Iron-Eye Quistine at Cherry Hill. Abner is left alone in the store, swamped with orders for their lucky loaf bread, while grandpappy Spears drops by for a visit. Lum returns from training Mousey, who keeps falling asleep, and Abner presses him to bake the bread and do his share of the work. Lum insists the bakery is woman's work and complains that Mousey's night job at the mill is holding back his training. The episode is part of the Lum and Abner series, first aired on 1942-01-06 on NBC, Mutual, CBS and ABC, with Chester Lauck, Norris Goff and Lurene Tuttle in the leading roles.
Pine Ridge, the store and bakery in Chatham Down
Characters: Lum Edwards, Abner Peabody, Grandpappy Spears, Mousey, Iron-Eye Quistine
Listen for: Lum's dispute with Abner over the bakery work and Mousey's sleepy training sessions
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
