What happens
Lum Edwards and Abner Peabody run the store in Pine Ridge, where Squire Skimp and the self-proclaimed healer Prince Ali Kazam are promoting a paid healing racket. Lum, whose supposedly broken leg was only a sprained ankle, is pressured by the Squire to persuade Grandpa Masters to pay three hundred dollars for the Prince to heal his wife's hip. Lum refuses at first, and the Squire reveals that the Prince is a fake and threatens Lum with a past insurance check he endorsed. The Lum and Abner radio series, first aired October 31, 1941 on NBC, Mutual, CBS and ABC, is led by Chester Lauck and Norris Goff, with Lurene Tuttle also in the cast.

Listen for: The Squire's threat to Lum over the insurance check and the revelation that the Prince is a fake.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
