What happens

Lum and Abner, the Pine Ridge store owners, learn that the Prince, a bone healer who has been fleecing townspeople, is being cheated by Squire Skimp, who has been pocketing money meant for the Prince. Squire arrives at the store with a bruised face and offers a long, self-serving account, claiming he was forced by the Prince to take part in the scheme and has now driven the Prince out of town. Lum and Abner are skeptical of his story. A letter from the Prince then arrives, which Lum reads aloud, and it contradicts Squire's version of events. The setting is the small community of Pine Ridge. The Lum and Abner series aired on NBC, Mutual, CBS and ABC, and this episode first aired on November 4, 1941, with Chester Lauck, Norris Goff and Lurene Tuttle in the lead roles.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
