What happens

Lum Edwards, the justice of the peace in Pine Ridge, is put on trial for attempting to break into the Jot 'Em Down store, which he co-owns. Since he cannot judge his own case, Squire Skimp prosecutes and Lum's partner Abner Peabody is among the townsmen who gather in the store, now converted into a courtroom. The case centers on whether Lum signed a paper giving away his half of the store, and the proceedings grow increasingly chaotic as witnesses are questioned and the document is disputed. Chester Lauck, Norris Goff and Lurene Tuttle lead the cast in this 1942 episode of Lum and Abner, which aired on NBC, Mutual, CBS and ABC on January 27, 1942.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
