What happens
Justice of the Peace Lum Edwards faces a burglary charge and seeks a change of venue to the county seat, where he hopes for a more sympathetic judge. Lum and Abner pore over law books to find a precedent for his defense, and they find a similar case that unsettles them. Lum worries about a past connection to the crime and urges Abner to keep it quiet. Lum and Abner are the stars of this NBC, Mutual, CBS and ABC radio comedy, which aired on January 29, 1942, with Chester Lauck, Norris Goff and Lurene Tuttle in the cast. Lum is also rehearsing a courtroom plea, and Mousey Jones pauses in the store with Gus.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
