What happens

Lum and Abner are troubled after Lum receives a letter from Mrs. Barrington in Kansas City. The letter is meant to settle whether the jewels found hidden in a box of insurance papers belong to her. Abner grows gloomy and distracted, and the two partners argue over whether to return the jewels to the man called Mr. Debro, and whether to involve the police. Lum is reluctant to go to the authorities, while Abner worries that they could be arrested for keeping property that is not theirs. The episode is a comic radio story from the Lum and Abner series, first broadcast on September 9, 1941, with Chester Lauck, Norris Goff and Lurene Tuttle in the leading roles.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
