What happens
Lum and Abner run the store and bakery in Pine Ridge on the day of the carnival, where Mousey is set to fight Iron Ike for a thousand dollar prize. Mousey is home in bed, and Lum is bitter that the bout fell through and that he lost the manager's share he expected. Lum and Abner talk over the carnival prizes and the lost contract. Cedric arrives with cookies and a metal whistle he bought at the carnival, and Abner and Lum hatch a plan to put money in loaves of bread to draw in customers. Lum then phones the carnival to pay the entry fee on Mousey's behalf and learns how the fight went.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
