What happens

Abner and Grandpappy Spears talk in the Jot 'Em Down store while Lum worries about Gussie Hogan and her brother Snake. Gussie believes a locket from Lum was meant for her, and Lum has been sent into a panic by the mix-up. Abner suggests telling Gussie the locket was a mistake, and Snake, now strangely friendly, is said to speak well of Lum. Mousey Gray, meanwhile, comes by upset and asks where Lum is. Abner then sets out to phone Gussie, but the call goes badly and Snake arrives at the store angry, pressing Abner to explain. The Lum and Abner series is set in the small town of Pine Ridge, and this 1941 episode stars Chester Lauck, Norris Goff and Lurene Tuttle.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
