What happens

Lum is discouraged after failing to sell subscriptions for a farm magazine, and he wants back his share of the store he accidentally signed over to Abner. He consults Squire Skimp, who explains that the signed document is binding and that a lawsuit would be costly and unlikely to succeed. Lum then decides to take Cedric's delivery job at the store, hoping Abner will beg him to accept it. Instead, Lum asks Mousey, a former fighter, to approach Abner on his behalf. Abner agrees to hire Mousey for five dollars a week, and Lum finds himself left out of the arrangement.

Pine Ridge, a small rural community, in and around Lum and Abner's general store and the nearby barbershop.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
