What happens
Lum Edwards tries to get Mousey to convince Abner Peabody that Lum should be rehired at the Pine Ridge general store, but Abner hires Mousey instead. Lum, still a former partner, feels betrayed and begins to believe he is suffering a nervous breakdown. Lum and Mousey rehearse a staged collapse meant to make Abner feel guilty, while Abner works out deliveries and the town's comings and goings continue around the store. The series, Lum and Abner, first aired on January 16, 1942, with Chester Lauck, Norris Goff and Lurene Tuttle in the leading roles.
